The Little Acorns Team
Our highly experienced staff are the most important part of our setting. They offer stimulating, age-specific learning experiences in a happy, caring environment. Our staff to child ratios are always above those required.
Parents are children's first and most enduring educators and we are committed to working co-operatively with parents and carers.

Mel A
Manager
I am very lucky to have the best job in the World!
In my free time, I love to get together with my family and friends. My two eldest boys are grown-up so I love to spoil them when they come home.
My favourite children’s book is The Tiger Who Came To Tea by Judith Kerr.

Jackie
Assistant Manager
Once upon a time, my two daughters came to Little Acorns and loved it so much that I became a parent volunteer. I then applied for a play assistant job and have enjoyed every single day here for the last ten years!
I love hearing laughter and stories and being amazed at small wonders every day at Little Acorns.
My favourite children's book is 'Peace at Last' by Jill Murphy.

Melanie
SEN Officer & Qualified Play Worker
I moved to Wendover 8 years ago from London. I have previously worked in childcare settings and spent 10 years in an Independent School.
I have 2 children; one in High School and one in Primary. I came to work at Little Acorns after my youngest daughter left 3 years ago. Being a city girl, I love exploring the countryside.
My favourite book is Matilda by Roald Dahl.

Sue
Admissions Officer
Little Acorns has been part of my life since 2001. I was joint manager until 2009 and following a grown-up ‘Gap Year’ with my husband I returned as an assistant and to continue with the admissions administration which I really enjoy.
I love the great outdoors and am never happier than with my husband and son walking the dogs, hiking in the mountains or sliding down snowy slopes! I love musicals, cooking and Coldplay!
It is really too ABSOLUTELY impossible to choose my favourite children’s book as there are so many amazing stories . . . but I do love Charlie and Lola, as well as having a soft spot for ‘Owl Babies’!

Lianne
Room Supervisor & Qualified Play Worker
I started working at Little Acorns after my second child attended and moved on to school in 2012. I have always worked in childcare in variety of different settings and roles since leaving college with my NNEB qualification in 2000.
As a mother of 3, I understand how important it is for parents to feel comfortable and confident to leave their child at a young age.
Outside of work I love spending quality family time with my husband and children, traveling and reading.
I have many favourite children’s books, a few being; Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae and Handa’s Surprise by Eileen Browne.

Susanna
Qualified Play Worker
I have worked at Little Acorns for over 20 years. Initially, I was as a parent but when my children left, 16 years ago, I saw a vacancy and the rest is history.
I adore my job and the reward is seeing an excited 4 year old eager to start school. As I live in Wendover, it is always a joy to see these children around and I have a deep satisfaction knowing that I can live and work within a close community.
My favourite children’s book is Milly Molly Mandy.

Gail
Qualified Play Worker
I always wanted to work with children and have done so ever since I left college.
I absolutely love all things Disney! I enjoy spending time with my children and husband.
My favourite children’s book is Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson.

Louise
Training Play Worker & 'Friends of Little Acorns' leader
Having seen all three of my children through Little Acorns and onto school, I just couldn’t leave the place behind when they left so became a member of the team. I also head up the fundraising 'Friends of Little Acorns' hosting events throughout the year.
I absolutely love Take That, Christmas & movie nights in with my husband & girls.
My favourite children’s book is ‘Chocolate Mousse For Greedy Goose’.
